Freshly baked bread with ingredients on cutting board.

Andre Burgos, a native of Brittany, France, has been buying, restoring and selling antiques in the U.S. for over 30 years. His love and appreciation for beautiful objects is a result of growing up among his families’ antiques, and his education at Ecole Nationale des Beauux Arts. Andre received a Master’s degree in Industrial Design from ENSAAMA, Paris. His varied professional background encompasses heading the North American headquarters for renown French Interior Designer Andree Putman. Andre’s experience working with Andree Putnam included supervising and designing projects for Ian Schraeger and Steve Rubell of Morgan’s Hotel (of Studio 54 fame, first boutique hotel in U.S.), the Palladium nightclub, Barney’s NY flagship store, a number of luxury residential apartments, model apartments and designer showrooms for clients such as Karl Lagerfeld and LA producer Joe Pytka.

He later transferred to specializing in buying, repairing and selling vintage “smalls,” which includes mechanical items like watches, knives, tools, precision instruments and corkscrews.. Andre’s knowledge of European and North American antiques, furniture, machinery and decor is vast. He has a penchant for restoring quality collection items and antiques which is a big plus to his clients.

Andre was an early adopter of online platforms. He now operates two online stores featuring his collections, and has a history of almost 4,000 transactions on Ebay, with a 100% positive, 5-star rating, and an Etsy shop with nearly 2,000 sales and 100% 5-star reviews. Andre is a recognized staple from the popular Chelsea Antiques Market on 25th Street in Manhattan. Known for his discerning selection, the superb quality of his merchandise, his trustworthiness and fairness in pricing, Andre has earned a solid reputation among many long-term collectors, customers and celebrities from around the globe.

Barbara Wertheim holds a Master’s degree from Pratt Institute in Communications Design, and an undergraduate degree from Rhode Island School of Design. Her professional experience encompasses 30 years of graphic design, art direction, advertising and marketing, working at agencies and as a sole proprietor of a boutique design agency and entrepreneur. At Hudson Estate Sales, she is responsible for social media, e-commerce platforms, customer service, and shares in the research and administrative tasks. Barbara assures that your sale is appropriately catalogued, branded, advertised and well-attended.

Barbara and Andre became co-founders of Hudson Estate Sales in 2020, conducting upscale estate sales, online auctions and home liquidations out of Westchester County and the Hudson Valley. Hudson Estate Sales also assists clients with selling off special collections, inclusive of research, cataloging and restoration. Andre contributes an expertise in various fields of antiques, manufacturing and restoration, and his personal connections with buyers, sellers and the current marketplace. Barbara brings art direction, knowledge of marketing, sales and social media, and a genuine curiosity about people and their stories to the business.

Barbara and Andre’s collaboration began on a first date late in 2014, and soon evolved into a life-partnership. They share a love of art and antiques, long dinners with family and friends, sailing, blues music, and a passion to preserve beautiful, hand-made objects for future generations. They operate the business from their home in Croton-on-Hudson with a view of the river, where Andre tolerates their highly opinionated Siamese cat.
